Aaron Rodgers: Jets Need to 'Stay Tunnel Vision' amid Criticism for 2-2 Season Start
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers says his team needs to adopt "tunnel vision" in order to stay on track for a playoff berth following their 2-2 start to the 2024 season.
"It takes a combination of the overall structure that's in place, and then releasing the control into the hands of the leadership, and I think we have good leadership on this team," Rodgers said in an interview published Friday by the NFL (11:40 mark of the linked video.) "We have the right combination of the old heads, who've kind of been there, done that, the young guys, who are real hungry, and the middle guys, who are so important, who are stepping into their stardom, and are starting to show that leadership ability that's innate in anybody that's on the way up into superstardom.

"So, I like where we're at. We're going through adversity. It's a long season, and hopefully, we'll just take this thing one week at a time. I hate cliches, but the fact is, you've got to be tunnel vision in this league. I know our fans, and organization sometimes, can get away from that, but as players, we've got to stay tight, stay tunnel vision."
The interview with Rodgers was released amid a week when the news surrounding the Jets has taken a turn away from the team's performance on the field.
After Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams requested a trade earlier this week, Adams' and Rodgers' reported interest in reuniting after their eight seasons together with the Green Bay Packers has sparked rumors the Jets will consider a trade for the six-time Pro Bowler.
However, CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones reported on Friday that the Jets "haven't been in a rush" to trade for Adams because of a variety of factors, including the wideout's cap hit, the reported second-round pick the Raiders want in return, and the hamstring injury that will sideline him for a second straight game on Sunday.
With no Adams trade seemingly imminent, Rodgers' team will look to follow their veteran quarterback's advice and focus on their current roster for Sunday's Week 5 game against the undefeated Minnesota Vikings in London. The Jets will need to focus on developing the connection between wideout Garrett Wilson and Rodgers, rather than a potential upcoming trade, in order to keep the Vikings from stretching their season-opening streak to 5-0.
