NFL Rumors: Jets Aren't 'In a Rush' on Davante Adams Trade Despite Aaron Rodgers Buzz
The New York Jets "haven't been in a rush" to trade for Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams despite Aaron Rodgers' reported interest in reuniting with his former teammate, Jonathan Jones reported for CBS Sports.
Unlike his team, a source told Jones that Rodgers "may be in a rush" to complete the trade.
Adams, who reportedly requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday, is dealing with a hamstring injury ESPN's Adam Schefter has described as "week-to-week."

That injury, in addition to Adams' current $13.5 million cap hit and the Jets' travel to London for Sunday's Week 5 contest against the Minnesota Vikings, are reasons the team has not yet worked out a deal for Adams, Jones reported.
The Jets' delay is also tied to "the Raiders' compensation request," according to Jones.
Schefter previously reported that the Raiders have told other teams they would consider a trade for Adams in exchange for a package including "a second-round pick and additional compensation."
However, Schefter has noted this package could be impacted by Adams' hamstring injury, which will sideline him for a second straight game this Sunday during the Raiders' Week 5 contest against the Denver Broncos.
In terms of salary, Adams' cap hit is set to decrease with each week of the season. Although he is heading into Week 5 with a cap charge of $13.13 million, that is set to drop by $938,333 with each passing game of the season, as noted by NBC Sports' Mike Florio.
The Jets would take on the cap hit of Adams' remaining salary at the time of a potential trade. It could benefit New York to wait until closer to the Nov. 5 trade deadline, when Adams' cap hit will have dropped below $9 million, to make a move for the star wideout.
The salary cap situation in New York is complicated by the ongoing holdout of edge rusher Haason Reddick, however. Reddick currently has a minimal cap hit but could significantly impact the Jets' salary situation should he return to the team.
There is also the potential that another team could make a move for Adams first. Schefter previously reported that the New Orleans Saints are, like the Jets, somewhere Adams would like to play, while NFL Network's Ian Rapoport has named the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers as other potential landing spots.
Adams added to that intrigue with a Friday Instagram post potentially referencing the Ravens.
The Jets could use another top receiver for Rodgers after the veteran quarterback and Garrett Wilson work on developing chemistry. If Adams joins the team as a third option alongside Wilson and Allen Lazard, Jones said that team sources believe veteran receiver Mike Williams is a likely candidate for a trade.
Although it sounds like Rodgers is hoping to reunite with Adams after their stint with the Green Bay Packers, Jets general manager Joe Douglas will have to navigate the salary cap and Adams' ongoing injury before deciding if a trade for the star wideout will help the team capitalize on their quarterback's age-40 season this fall.
