Micah Parsons Wants Cowboys to Have 'Legit' Wins: 'I Don't Want to Scrape by No More'

Jack MurraySep 27, 2024

Micah Parsons isn't interested in the Dallas Cowboys narrowly avoiding defeat.

Dallas picked up a much-needed 20-15 victory over the New York Giants on Thursday but the closeness of the matchup had the All-Pro linebacker hoping for more convincing wins going forward.

"Winning is important … but it wasn't perfect," Parsons told reporters. "I don't want to scrape by no more. I want legit wins. I want to win consistently. And we got a tough matchup next week [vs. Pittsburgh]."

The victory allowed the Cowboys to improve to 2-2 on the season but the team will need to string together several wins to reach expectations.

Dallas entered 2024 after a 2023 season that saw the franchise go 12-5 for the third consecutive season and win the NFC East. That success didn't translate to the postseason, as the team fell 48-32 to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round.

Dallas showed what it could accomplish in Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns but losses in Weeks 2 and 3 to the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens put the team in a 1-2 hole.

A dominant victory over a Giants team that is now 1-3 on the season could have quelled some doubts, but the slim margin of victory instead solidified some concerns about the team's chances to be a real contender.

Parsons is one face of the franchise and a perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate. He has recorded 14 tackles, six quarterback hits and one sack through four games in 2024 and is a matchup nightmare for opposing offensive lines.

While he remains a formidable force, the Cowboys' defense has allowed 104 points through four games and needs to improve for the team to have a notable winning streak. Additionally, he suffered a high ankle sprain in the game against New York so the unit may have to manage without his presence if he is not ready for Week 5.

The Cowboys will hope to turn the tide in Week 5 with a matchup against the currently undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers.
