Jalin Hyatt: Stats 'Definitely Disappointing' amid Giants, Daniel Jones' Struggles

Jack MurraySep 20, 2024

It has not been an ideal start to the 2024 NFL season for New York Giants wide receiver Jalin Hyatt.

The second-year receiver has had limited action thus far, having made zero catches on just a single target in two games. He has logged just 26 snaps and acknowledged that he is not happy with the situation but is motivated to improve and make an impact this season.

"It is definitely disappointing," Hyatt said, per Jordan Ranaan of ESPN. "I'm not going to sit here and act like I'm perfectly fine with it. I'm not. But it's like, 'What can I do now?' It's either I can sit here and pout and be mad at the world and not get better, or I can keep attacking the days and keep getting better at practice."

He also said his confidence in himself has not wavered and that he will be ready when he gets an opportunity.

"My time will come. Trust me, it will," Hyatt said, per Ranaan. "And if it's not now, it will be soon. So I'm not really worried about it right now because I know I'm going to take over sooner or later."

Hyatt had 23 receptions for 373 yards in 2023, starting seven games. He was fourth on the team in yards and the hope was that he could elevate and become a solid secondary option behind rookie Malik Nabers.

Instead, he has failed to record a catch for a Giants offense that has struggled to start the season. Nabers is the only player with more than 100 receiving yards throughout the first two games and New York has quickly started 0-2.

Quarterback Daniel Jones has only thrown for 364 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions through the first two games, so he will also need to be better if Hyatt hopes to have a chance at increasing his production.

The offense will look to settle in going forward and a three-touchdown performance from the unit in Week 2 did show some signs of improvement. Still, Hyatt's low snap count and the struggles the offense has already faced does not bode well for his future production.

The Giants will seek their first win of the season when they face the Cleveland Browns in Week 3 on Sunday.
