
Video: Lil Wayne 'Hurt' by Super Bowl Halftime Show Snub After Kendrick Lamar Reveal
As the NFL prepares to host Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans in February, Lil Wayne was bypassed for the Super Bowl Halftime Show in his hometown for Kendrick Lamar.
Speaking on Instagram Live, Lil Wayne said it "hurt a whole lot" to not get the honor of performing during the NFL's showcase game.

Lamar and the NFL announced on Sunday that he would be the headline act for the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
The process to determine who performs at halftime of the NFL's championship game previously involved the host city presenting a short list of artists to the league. There are people within the NFL, as well as various boards who go over the shortlist.
Since Apple Music and Jay-Z's Roc Nation produce the halftime show, they are also involved in the vetting process. There are times when the musical act will have a connection to the city where the game is being played.
For instance, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg were among the performers for the Super Bowl 56 Halftime Show when the game was played in Los Angeles.
Lamar's selection came after an eventful summer in which he and Drake engaged in a back-and-forth battle that K-Dot won in a landslide.
