Caitlin Clark Hypes 'Unguardable' A'ja Wilson Before Aces-Fever: 'Pretty Incredible'
Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark doesn't believe there's a formula to stop Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson with the veteran forward dominating on the court throughout the 2024 WNBA season.
Clark called Wilson "pretty incredible" and "unguardable" prior to Wednesday's game against the Aces.
Wilson is in the midst of one of the best single seasons in WNBA history. She's leading the league in scoring (27.3 points) while shooting 52.7 percent from the floor. On the glass, she's second only to the Chicago Sky's Angel Reese in rebounding average (11.9). Along with her efficient scoring, she ranks first in blocks (2.7) and is tied for second in steals (1.9).
Midway through the campaign, the 28-year-old also played a starring role on Team USA as it won an eighth straight gold medal in the 2024 Summer Olympics. She averaged a team-high 18.7 points and 10.2 rebounds during the six-game run.
It's not enough to say Wilson is the best player in the world right now. A two-time WNBA champion and six-time All-Star who's a shoo-in for her third MVP Award, she's on a trajectory to be one of the greatest women's basketball players ever.
And this is probably Wilson at the apex of her powers — the rest of the WNBA is shuddering at the thought she might somehow have a higher level than this.
Clark and the Fever are all too aware of her talents. The Aces won their first two meetings with Indiana by 38 combined points, with Wilson dropping 57 points, 24 rebounds and six blocks across the two contests.
