NFL Rumors: Packers' Josh Jacobs Was Never Offered 'Actual' Giants Contract in FA
The New York Giants reportedly did not delve deep into the Josh Jacobs sweepstakes.
Jacobs told Dan Pompei of The Athletic that the Giants had offered him more money than he ultimately accepted but that he was turned off by the New York lifestyle. However, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reported that the Giants never officially made Jacobs an offer.

Dunleavy is referencing an official offer, so Jacobs could have turned the team away before any true offer came of light. He would elect to sign a four-year, $48 million deal with the Green Bay Packers.
Jacobs signed his deal prior to former Giants running back Saquon Barkley signed his three-year, $37.75 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. Barkley had said that the Giants asked him to "bring back an offer to match after hitting the open market" instead of making an offer themselves, something he considered to be "disrespectful."
With Jacobs' claim of the Giants offering more money than he received from Green Bay, it shows how New York was prepared to lose Barkley as well as how much the team values Jacobs. However, the lack of an official offer shows that the interest may not have been as high in reality.
Jacobs had 233 carries for 805 yards and six touchdowns in 2023. This came after a fantastic 2022 season in which he ran for 1,653 yards and 12 touchdowns and was named first-team All-Pro.
He brings a dynamic presence to Green Bay's offense and should fill the hole left by Aaron Jones. The Giants, meanwhile, will rely on Devin Singletary to replace Barkley.
