Clark stole the show in Chicago against fellow rookie sensation Angel Reese. She scored a career-high 31 points on 8-of-14 shooting and dished out 12 assists in 32 minutes. The 22-year-old now has 11 double-doubles, most among all guards in the WNBA this season.
Friday night continued a string of stellar performances for Clark after a slow start to the season. She is averaging 20.6 points on 45.4 percent shooting, 10.0 assists and 6.3 rebounds per game in 18 starts since June 16.
The Fever are averaging 86.9 points per contest in these 18 games. They have wins over the New York Liberty, Connecticut Sun and Minnesota Lynx—the top three seeds in the standings—during this stretch.
Following an abysmal 1-8 start, the Fever have won 15 of their last 23 games. Their 16 wins are the most for the team in a season since finishing 17-17 in 2016. They haven't won at least 20 games in a season since 2015 when they reached the WNBA Finals.
The Fever (16-16) have moved into a tie with the Phoenix Mercury for the No. 6 seed in the playoff standings. They are three games behind the Las Vegas Aces and Seattle Storm for the fourth and fifth spots.
After Sunday's matchup against the Dallas Wings at College Park Center, the Fever will play six straight home games before wrapping up the regular season in Washington D.C. against the Mystics on Sept. 19.
