Know your league settings inside and out.

The simplest bit of draft advice remains the smartest. If you don't know all of the particulars of the league you're trying to win, then you won't win it.

Quarterback valuations differ dramatically whether you start one quarterback or two. They also take a considerable climb if your league awards six points for a passing touchdown instead of four. Receivers are a bigger priority if you start three of them rather than two.

At the very least, you should know how many teams are in your league, how many players you start at each position and how the scoring rules are set up. Without that information, you'll be drawing dead at your draft.

Be mindful of positional scarcity.

Look across any list of fantasy scoring leaders, and you'll find one unavoidable truth. The elite tiers don't last as long at some positions than others.

That's why workhorse running backs are so valuable, because there simply aren't many still filling that role (and racking up that statistical volume) in the modern NFL. It's also why some analysts say you can wait to address the quarterback spot, since there are usually enough solid-or-better starters to go around.

Go with your gut.

Expert analysis can be hugely helpful in setting positional tiers, uncovering sleepers and avoiding busts. In the end, though, this is your roster, and you should set it exactly how you see fit.

Maybe you think Josh Allen is so much better than the other options at quarterback that he justifies a second-round pick. You can make that call. You might be right. His numbers were easily the best in the league last season.

The point is you need to be fully comfortable with and confident in whatever strategy you adopt. This is your team, and it should reflect that.
