Fantasy Football 2024: Updated Rankings and Advice for Team Names
Week 2 of the 2024 NFL preseason wrapped on Sunday, which mean's we're officially two-thirds through the exhibition slate. There's one week left, roster cuts are due on August 27, and the regular season will lick off on September 5.
This, of course, means that fantasy enthusiasts are running out of time to prepare for drafts and get ready for their Week 1 matchups—seriously, the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens open the season in 16 days.
The good news is that rosters are nearly settled, many position battles are over, and managers have a lot more information than they did just a couple of weeks ago. We shouldn't see any wild swings in fantasy stocks over the next two weeks, barring injury, of course.
With all of this in mind, let's run through some updated point-per-reception rankings and some fantasy team-name ideas to aid in those last-minute cram sessions.

Preseason Week 2 Developments
3 of 4
While several teams rested their starters in Week 2 of the preseason—and exhibition games must be taken with a grain of salt anyway—we did have a few fantasy-relevant takeaways.
Managers looking for a quarterback sleeper might want to bet on Washington Commanders rookie Jayden Daniels or Chicago Bears rookie Caleb Williams. Both first-year signal-callers performed well in Week 2, appear poised to be Week 1 starters and have multiple playmakers at their disposal.
On the other side of the coin, we have New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. He, let's say, chose poorly with a could of his throws in Week 2, which led to a pair of unacceptable interceptions—including a pick-six.
"Obviously, it's something we need to improve on so that's what we'll try to do," head coach Brian Daboll said, per ProFootballTalk's Michael Davis Smith.
It's good to get mistakes out of the way in the preseason, but the fact that Jones continues to make head-scratching decisions doesn't bode particularly well for a potential bounce-back season—or for the draft stock of players like rookie wideout Malik Nabers.
One rookie who continues to stand out is New York Jets running back Braelon Allen. He's looked like a dangerous rushing threat in each of his two preseason appearances, and he's a threat to steal significant touches from Breece Hall in 2024.
Hall's stock might be slipping slightly, but the stock of Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey took a jump on Saturday. Aubrey was already a fine fantasy option after making 36 field goals and 49 extra points in 2023. However, he just unofficially tied the NFL record with a 66-yarder against the Las Vegas Raiders.
And speaking of the Raiders, they just named Gardner Minshew as their Week 1 starting quarterback. That might not mean a lot for players like Davante Adams and Brock Bowers, but for managers looking to fill the bench, Aidan O'Connell is no longer a sensible option.
Team Names
4 of 4
The final step of any fantasy draft involves creating the perfect team name. As fantasy veterans know, the traditional method is to combine a player's name with a common phrase, title or pop-culture reference to create something fun, funny or, quite possibly, groan-inducing.
Managers usually base team names around one of their key players, but it's not necessary. The most important thing is to create a name that works for you. With a good draft, smart roster management and a little luck, it just might end up on a trophy.
Here are a few name suggestions based on some of this year's projected fantasy stars:
