Predicting Ricochet and More Surprises for Casino Gauntlet Match at AEW All In 2024

Kevin BergeAug 22, 2024

AEW All In: London 2024 may be the most important in All Elite Wrestling history. The company will return to Wembley Stadium with an audience likely to exceed 50,000 fans.

While this audience will not rival AEW's first appearance at Wembley last year, it will still be the second-largest attendance for a company event ever.

AEW is at an important time in its history, looking to prove its longevity. A likely TV rights deal is on the horizon, and new stars such as Mercedes Moné, Will Ospreay and Kazuchika Okada have bet on the promotion.

The card for All In is stacked, but no contest has more intrigue than the Casino Gauntlet match for a future AEW World Championship opportunity.

This match has only one announced participant, Orange Cassidy, who will enter first. After that, anyone could appear.

Surprises are coming. Big names are likely to appear. Who will appear? Who will win? The following are seven surprise names to arrive in the Casino Gauntlet.

Will all of them happen? Nothing is guaranteed, but they are all possible names who could shake the foundations of AEW.

Ricochet Debuts with Highlight-Reel Performance

1 of 7

Ricochet is the most likely surprise debut in the Casino Gauntlet. The athletic star left WWE at the end of his contract, after choosing not to re-sign.

At 35 years old, he still has plenty of good years left in his career. If he is walking out on WWE, it is almost certainly to sign with AEW.

The Casino Gauntlet is a perfect opportunity for The One and Only to show why he is still a special athlete. He can show out with an early entry, perhaps even starting with Orange Cassidy.

It's unlikely Ricochet would immediately catapult into the world title picture, but a strong performance would make him one of the biggest talking points of the weekend.

The One and Only's first performance outside of WWE will be can't-miss TV.

Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin and MVP Begin New 'Hurt Syndicate'

2 of 7

Bobby Lashley and MVP have left WWE after letting their contracts run out. Fans are now waiting to see what they do next.

The most likely answer is joining forces with former stablemate Shelton Benjamin and creating a new legacy for what was once The Hurt Business in WWE.

Per Jeremy Lambert of Fightful, Totally Harmless Concept, LLC recently filed to trademark the term "The Hurt Syndicate." That company is expected to be connected to MVP.

One great spot for these three to make their first impact would be an arrival in the Casino Gauntlet.

Lashley would be the most explosive participant—possibly even a dark horse to win—but Benjamin could also fit right in with his explosive athleticism.

MVP appears to be returning to active performance as well, and he could use the match as a chance to show out if he is comfortable in that role.

As long as AEW has signed the trio, this surprise would be a welcome move to begin building a new dominant stable.

Michael Oku and Amira are All Elite

3 of 7

According to Corey Brennan on Fightful Select, Michael Oku and Amira are two names likely to sign with AEW soon. If it happens, both may appear at Wembley in some fashion.

They may not be well-known names in wider wrestling circles, but 2024 should be the year when AEW fans get to know both.

The undisputed British heavyweight champion in Revolution Pro Wrestling has held that championship for over a year, including a highly acclaimed title defense against Will Ospreay in February 2024.

In many ways, Ospreay designated Oku as his heir apparent to carry Rev Pro in his absence, but AEW may be bringing in the 31-year-old star as well as his manager, Amira.

Is there any better time to solidify signing one of the top British stars than in Wembley?

Oku would be a crowd favorite in London on Sunday and could come off as an immediate star in that environment before AEW officially announces his signing.

Shane McMahon Makes One-Off Shock Appearance

4 of 7

A McMahon is never supposed to appear in any other wrestling company bar WWE. But the seemingly impossible may be coming.

Since Triple H fully took over WWE, Shane McMahon appears to have been shut out of WWE and may be looking to make a splash in response.

AEW does not need Shane O'Mac on TV regularly, but it would be an unforgettable piece of business for him to walk out in front of an AEW crowd just once.

If he is healthy enough to perform, McMahon could be an engaging performer who could hit a few big moves before he is taken out of the equation.

However, it's likely this would lead to the 54-year-old getting a legends contract with WWE to avoid future appearances like this, which may be the best for everyone involved.

Jon Moxley Returns with New Focus

5 of 7

Jon Moxley has not looked the same in 2024 as he has in recent years. Even though he won the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, he has looked tired and disinterested.

This may be because he never got the time off he needed with his family to refresh and find his focus again. Since Forbidden Door on June 30, Mox has not appeared, taking a deserved vacation.

No one knows when he will appear again, but a return from a two-month hiatus at Wembley would certainly make a lasting impression.

Moxley would become an instant favorite to win the contest, setting up a possible rematch with either Swerve Strickland or Bryan Danielson in the future.

If this is truly The American Dragon's last ride in professional wrestling, Moxley needs to be there. Why not let him first make an impact in the Casino Gauntlet?

Adam Cole Finally Comes Back from Injury

6 of 7

Adam Cole has not wrestled since All Out 2023 on September 3, when he and MJF retained the ROH Tag Team Championships. Later the same month, he suffered a major ankle injury that has sidelined him since.

Few moments would pop an AEW crowd more than hearing Cole's music hit again, knowing he was about to return to in-ring action.

The 30-year-old has so much left to give wrestling, assuming his ankle has healed smoothly. While Undisputed Kingdom is struggling, his reemergence may get the group back on track.

It is all down to whether Cole is ready to return to action. If he is, there is no better opportunity for a Casino Gauntlet surprise.

Orange Cassidy Wins 1st Singles AEW World Championship Opportunity

7 of 7

Who will win the Casino Gauntlet? At this point, anyone would be a surprise. But only one man is guaranteed for the match: Orange Cassidy.

Freshly Squeezed carried the International Championship through the most dominant reign in AEW history, defining the legacy of a fresh AEW championship.

However, despite his impressive career in AEW, he has held that International Championship just twice, never the world title.

Cassidy has only had one opportunity to capture the title previously, when he challenged Kenny Omega and PAC at Double or Nothing 2021 in a Triple Threat.

But this year could be a different story. Cassidy is ready to enter the main event scene.

If he wins a championship opportunity in the Casino Gauntlet, he would either fight Swerve Strickland in a rematch of their incredible Dynamite battle or face Bryan Danielson for the very first time.

Both are great options who can take advantage of the heightened excitement around the Casino Gauntlet match and elevate one of AEW's biggest rising stars.
