Bargain Free-Agents Jets Must Target
The New York Jets have a few roster situations worth monitoring throughout preseason.
Tyron Smith was not on the field during Tuesday's training camp practice, third-string quarterback Jordan Travis is dealing with an ankle injury and the Haason Reddick situation has not gotten any better.
The Jets are not in urgent need of signing any players, but if they choose to do so, they will likely come on cheap deals.
Regardless of who is on the field, the Jets have to make sure they put Aaron Rodgers in the best possible situation to win in 2024.
D.J. Humphries

The Jets do not have an urgent need at offensive tackle.
However, it is worth monitoring the free-agent market in case anything serious happens to the players on their roster.
Tyron Smith has not practiced much in the last week, but that has more to do with maintenance than an actual injury.
But the Jets do have two older offensive tackles in Smith and Morgan Moses who many not hold up over a 17-game season.
First-round pick Olu Fashanu can fill in a starting role if an injury happens, but bringing in a veteran like D.J. Humphries would help in that scenario.
Again, the need is not pressing yet at offensive tackle, but one injury could change the dynamic, and with the team in win now mode, they have to keep eyes on the best players available.
Yannick Ngakoue

The Jets got themselves into a mess with the Haason Reddick trade.
The contract situation with the defensive end has not gotten any better, and while he still can show up for Week 1, it is concerning that he's spent so much time away from the Jets.
New York could add some pass-rushing insurance in the form of Yannick Ngakoue.
Even with Reddick on the field, Ngakoue can provide some extra depth on the edge for a team that has to deal with some of the best quarterbacks in the NFL during its AFC schedule.

Trevor Siemian

The Jets do not need a starting-caliber quarterback with Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor on the roster.
However, they may need an extra body to throw in the preseason if Jordan Travis can't play in any games.
The rookie out of Florida State is out with an ankle injury. He could have taken a bulk of the preseason snaps.
The Jets could bring in a familiar face in Trevor Siemian just to have a functional pass-thrower run the offense.
Siemian could use the potential opportunity as a chance to showcase what he has left for NFL teams.
It likely would not be a long-term partnership if Travis returns to full health, but it could at least be a beneficial short-term move for both parties.
