Video: Malik Nabers, Kerby Joseph Trade Punches in Giants-Lions Training Camp Fight
Joint practices during training camp usually lead to some contentious situations, and New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers got his first taste of the action on Tuesday.
During practice against the Detroit Lions, Nabers ended up trading punches with Lions safety Kerby Joseph, which ignited some fireworks between the two teams:

An alternate angle shows that Nabers took a swipe at Joseph as he jogged back to the huddle, and Joseph responded in kind:
Nabers has been one of the most exciting players to watch during training camp, as he's made multiple highlight-reel catches that have showcased his potential to be a future superstar in the NFL. New York likely would prefer that the 2024 No. 6 pick keeps himself out of fights with opponents, but he plays with a fire that the offense needs if it hopes to be competitive in 2024.
The Giants and Lions clearly have no love lost between them. ESPN's Jordan Raanan reported on Monday that there were "approximately eight skirmishes that occurred on the field" during joint practice, the first of which happened on just the second play of live drills. New York quarterback Daniel Jones even incited one of the brawls when he shoved Detroit defensive lineman Alim McNeill in the back after he pushed center Greg Van Roten to the ground.
"A situation happens like that, you try to stand up for your guys," Jones said. "I thought it was good competitive practice all day [Monday] and we made some plays and did some good things. There are some things we need to shore up, for sure, but good intensity and competitive spirit."
The players will have the chance to resolve their tensions when the Giants and Lions face each other in a preseason matchup on Thursday night.
