Giants, Lions Fight on Video During Joint Practice Ahead of 2024 NFL Preseason Game
Tensions flared at the joint practice between the New York Giants and the Detroit Lions on Monday.
Another video showed Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and Giants rookie cornerback Dru Phillips getting involved in the action following a catch from St. Brown.

New York and Detroit will open their respective preseason slates against each other on Thursday.
Another scuffle broke out later in practice with New York signal-caller Daniel Jones getting involved. Giants guard Greg Van Roten was at the bottom of the pile during the second fight (h/t SNY's Connor Hughes).
Jones later discussed getting involved in the altercation:
After the Lions earned a spot in the NFC Championship game during the 2023 season partially due to their hard-fought rushing attack, Giants players spoke about their desire to match Detroit's physicality ahead of the joint practice.
"If you embrace that type of physicality, that kind of toughness, if you practice like that every day, it translates to the field," left tackle Andrew Thomas said on Sunday, per Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post. "That's the mindset we're trying to build."
Training camp fights are hardly an uncommon occurrence, including battles between teammates. Players from the Miami Dolphins butted heads on July 30, while Derek Stingley and Dalton Schultz were involved in a fight during the Houston Texans' training camp on July 24.
The Lions and Giants haven't faced off in the regular season since 2022, as Detroit won a Week 11 contest between both squads by the final score of 31-18.
While Thursday's upcoming clash between the two teams may not count toward the regular-season standings, it should still feature some added intensity compared to the average preseason contest following Monday's feuds.
