Fantasy Football 2024: Breaking Down Mock Draft and Cheatsheet
The 2024 NFL season moves closer by the minute.
If you play fantasy football and haven't ran through a few mock drafts yet, it's time to change that.
Mock drafts are one of the more valuable tools available to fantasy managers. Beyond just refreshing you on the general selection process, they also offer a chance to experiment with different strategies and see whether you can find something to add to your gameplan.
Here, we've tabbed FantasyPros' mock draft simulator to conduct an automated three-round mock draft. After, we'll spotlight a few of the biggest debates near the top of the draft board before finishing with cheatsheet-style top-10 rankings at each of the four skill positions.

Draft Debates
2 of 3
Who is RB2?
Christian McCaffrey is universally (and correctly) regarded as the top running back on the fantasy draft board. Where opinions split, though, is with which back should be the next to go: Breece Hall or Bijan Robinson.
Both are coming off hugely productive campaigns—Hall tallied 1,585 scrimmage yards and nine scores, while Robinson produced 1,463 and eight, respectively—and each has plenty to gain from quarterback upgrades. Hall's Jets have a healthy Aaron Rodgers under center, and Robinson's Falcons leveled-up from Desmond Ridder to Kirk Cousins.
How early is too early to take a quarterback?
If you seek out any kind of fantasy advice, you'll inevitably come across the instruction to wait before filling the quarterback spot. As the thinking goes, there isn't as big of a separation with players at the position as there are with running backs and receivers. The opportunity cost of taking an early quarterback, then, is deemed by many as too steep.
Having said that, though, the gap between an elite and a non-elite is still pretty wide. Last season, Josh Allen posted 410.6 fantasy points, per FantasyPros. Baker Mayfield, QB10 meanwhile, managed just 284.1. If you envision a similar split, you could confidently take Allen as early as the second round. If not, you could nab a solid-or-better starter closer to the back end of the top 10 rounds.
Who is QB2?
Just like with running back, there is a pretty general consensus that Allen is the top quarterback available. There are also disagreements about which signal-caller sits second.
Some will say Lamar Jackson. Others will back Jalen Hurts. Still others might wonder how Patrick Mahomes isn't the obvious choice. The running ability of Jackson and Hurts would give them the edge on Mahomes for us, but it's up to you to decide who you prefer and who you trust the most.
