JoAnne Carner has still got it.
The LPGA legend shot an 85 during the first round at the U.S. Senior Women's Open, which solidifies the seventh time that the 85-year-old has shot her age or better in the tournament's history.
The accomplishment was less amusing for Carner, who was critical of her performance.
"It was terrible," Carner said, per Jay Coffin of Golf Digest. "I played really bad on the back. I didn't putt well. Then I lost my swing temporarily. I hit a couple shots that I thought were good, but not having played the course but one time, I ended up in trouble, in one of those bunkers, and you just have to hit out."
Carner has 43 victories on the LPGA Tour and has two major championships in her career. She hit the first tee shot at the inaugural U.S. Senior Women's Open in 2018 and continues to hang with her fellow participants on the tour.
Kaori Yamamoto led the field on Thursday after carding a 67. Christa Johnson and Lisa Grimes posted dueling 68s.
