Day 6 of the Paris Olympics featured group play in the women's basketball tournament, and the men's bracket will resume on Day 7. While Team USA won't be back in action until Saturday, Friday's schedule will still feature plenty of NBA star power.

The Canadian team alone boasts stars like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, RJ Barrett, Jamal Murray, Dillon Brooks and Kelly Olynyk. Rudy Gobery and Victor Wembanyama will suit up for Team France, while Giannis Antetokounmpo will take the floor for Greece.

Friday's slate will also feature pool play in both men's and women's 3-on-3 basketball. Here's a look at what to expect on Friday.

The men's tournament is approaching the end of group play, and Friday should feature some thrilling matchups.

Canada might be the biggest threat to Team USA in the knockout stage, based on top-end talent alone. While the Canadians haven't dominated quite like the Americans have, they showed resiliency and strong team chemistry during wins over Greece and Australia.

Tuesday's game against Australia was a back-and-forth battle before Canada found a way to take over in the second half.

"We were just handling storms really well," Murray said, per Michael Charlebois of Olympic.ca. "Just our ability to adjust during the game, and we got a lot of a lot of personnel that can change the game. I think that's key for us."

A win over Spain on Friday would allow Canada to exit pool play with an undefeated record. Germany and France are also undefeated, but only one of them can emerge with the top spot of Group B.

While France features the standout tandem of Gobert and Wembanyama, Germany has a cohesive squad—one that features NBA talents like Franz Wagner and Dennis Schröder. It'll be a fun game, though it won't keep either team out of the elimination bracket.

The top two teams in each group automatically advance to the next stage of competition, and since Japan and Brazil have yet to record a victory, a 2-1 record will allow either Germany or France to advance.

Things are tighter in Group A, where Australia and Spain each have one victory. Australia currently leads the point-differential tiebreaker, so it practically has a win-and-in scenario on Friday.

The quarterfinals are scheduled to kick off on Wednesday, August 7.

While standard 5-on-5 basketball is one of the bigger draws in the Summer Olympics, fans will get to enjoy a lot more hoops action on Friday thanks to the 3-on-3 tournament (also known as 3x3 basketball). Making its debut at the Tokyo Olympics, the 3x3 format is quite a bit different than the standard version.

For those unfamiliar with leagues like Big3, the 3x3 format is a faster-paced, half-court variant—and one in which the American teams have struggled to find traction.

While the U.S. can send its brightest NBA and WNBA stars to the Olympics for standard play, the 3x3 competition has stricter roster requirements. Those who have not participated in sanctioned 3x3 events are not eligible for the Olympic team.

That's why the U.S. men's 3x3 team is headlined by Jimmer Fredette and Kareem Maddox instead of LeBron James and Stephen Curry.

The U.S. women's 3x3 team took gold in Toyko but has stumbled in Paris. Latvia won the men's gold in Toyko and will look to continue its title defense against France and Serbia on Friday.
