Will Ospreay Beats MJF to Win AEW International Title at All In 2024 in Wembley
Competing in his hometown of London, Will Ospreay defeated MJF on Sunday at All In to recapture the AEW International Championship, which MJF had rechristened the American Championship.
Daniel Garcia gained a measure of revenge on MJF when he prevented the champion from using a foreign object on Ospreay.
MJF took his eye off the ball and Ospreay pounced. He laid out MJF before connecting with the Tiger Driver for the win.
After missing five months due to injury, MJF made his surprise return to AEW at Double or Nothing in May, and he made it clear that his sole focus was on making money and winning championships rather than cultivating friendships.
MJF proved his motivations last month at Beach Break when he cost Garcia his International Championship match against Ospreay before beating Garcia to a bloody pulp.
That led to an international title match between MJF and Ospreay on the 250th episode of Dynamite on July 17, and it proved to be one of the greatest bouts in AEW history.
Just before the 60-minute time limit was reached, MJF dug into his bag of tricks and hit Ospreay with the Dynamite diamond ring to beat him for the International Championship.
It marked only the second time Ospreay lost a singles match during his AEW tenure, following his defeat at the hands of Swerve Strickland in an AEW World Championship match at Forbidden Door in June.
MJF heeled it up in a way only he can after his big win, as he slashed Ospreay's tires the following week in an effort to prevent him from making it to Dynamite.
The former AEW world champion also threw the International Championship in the trash and replaced it with the American Championship, and he even went so low as to mention Ospreay's recently deceased grandmother.
Much to MJF's surprise and chagrin, Ospreay arrived at Dynamite just in time to crash his celebration, setting the stage for a rematch at All In within the confines of Wembley Stadium in Ospreay's home country of England.
The crowd at All In was firmly on Ospreay's side as expected, and he used that energy to secure arguably the biggest win of his AEW tenure thus far.
