Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald has a fun way to ensure his team is laying the smackdown in training camp.
Macdonald has introduced a championship belt given to the side of the ball that won head-to-head battles on each day of camp.
"The belt is something that's kind of fun to just mix it up and spice it up throughout camp," Macdonald said Tuesday, per The Seattle Times. "You know, 'Who's holding the belt?' And then we can change the criteria of how you challenge it."

While there is not a direct scoreboard to give players an idea of who is "winning," Maconald said he wants to encourage competition as the Seahawks get ready for the season.
"The criteria is ever-changing," Macdonald said. "I do reserve the right to switch it up on the guys. But it's exciting. And based on where the team is going, it's kind of a way to push buttons here and there and edge guys on if someone needs a little push. Put a little belt on the line or something like that. So it's fun."
Macdonald is in his first season with the Seahawks after serving the last two years as the Baltimore Ravens' defensive coordinator. At age 37, Macdonald is the NFL's youngest head coach and is replacing a franchise legend in Pete Carroll.
It's no surprise that Macdonald has wasted little time in creating a unique environment of his own while trying to build bonds during his first camp.
