Bears' Updated Salary Cap After DJ Moore's Historic 4-Year, $110M Contract Extension
The Chicago Bears locked up one of their top players on Tuesday by signing star receiver DJ Moore to a four-year, $110 million deal, which is the largest extension in franchise history.
Per Spotrac, the Bears had a salary cap of $260.1 million and minus-$22.1 million in cap space prior to Moore's deal, so the team will have some work to do to get out of the red when his extension goes into effect.

Moore is now tied to the Bears through the 2029 season, which puts him on the same contract timeline as 2024 first-round picks quarterback Caleb Williams and receiver Rome Odunze. The deal includes $82.6 million in guaranteed money, and he's now the first receiver in NFL history to have the first 10 years of his career guaranteed.
The 27-year-old was originally acquired prior to the 2023 season as part of the deal that sent the 2023 No. 1 pick to the Carolina Panthers.
In his first season in Chicago, Moore proved how valuable he can be by recording career highs of 96 receptions for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns. The Bears opted to move on from quarterback Justin Fields and select Williams with the No. 1 pick, so Moore's presence will surely benefit the rookie as he begins his career.
Chicago also added veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen this offseason, creating a dangerous trio with Moore and Odunze. It's been quite some time since the Bears had an offense that had the potential to be elite, but their moves this offseason put them in a position to achieve that status this year.
Extending Moore appears to be the first step in what should be a bright future for Chicago as the franchise tries to end its rebuild and emerge as a Super Bowl contender.
