Cowboys' Trevon Diggs Activated from PUP List amid Recovery from 2023 Knee Injury
The Dallas Cowboys have removed cornerback Trevon Diggs from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list as he works his way back from a torn ACL that cost him nearly all of the 2023 season. He is eligible to practice Tuesday.
Diggs is a two-time Pro Bowler who led the NFL with 11 interceptions in 2021. He suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during a September 21, 2023 practice while participating in one-on-one drills, ending his season.
In the short-term, don't expect the Cowboys to throw him into the fire right away despite his activation from the PUP list:

When he is going 100 percent, the big question is whether he can return to his pre-injury form. If he does, then Diggs and Daron Bland, who just earned First-Team All-Pro honors, could form the best cornerback duo in football. And if that happens, the Cowboys could be on their way to having the best defense in football.
Diggs signed a five-year, $97 million contract before the 2023 season. He obviously fits in the team's long-term plans, and the Cowboys would love to see him return to where he left off.
The good news is that time is on Diggs' side. The Cowboys' season opener is roughly six weeks away, on Sept. 8 against the Cleveland Browns. So he'll have a chance to ramp up before getting back to the field for real.
For now, though, the fact that he's off the PUP list is a great sign as one of the best playmaking defensive backs in football gears for his official return.
