LeBron James: Team USA Has 'Firepower' to Rely on 'Somebody Different Every Day'
Team USA is 1-0 at the Paris Olympics after downing Nikola Jokić and Serbia 110-84 in a pool play game on Sunday.
The win came behind two veterans, LeBron James and Kevin Durant, who combined for 44 points. James also had nine assists and seven boards.
After the win, James said that while he and Durant carried most of the weight on Sunday, they will have to rely on everyone on the team to step throughout the Olympics.
"Whatever it takes," James said, per ESPN's Brian Windhorst. "It's going to be somebody different every day. And we have that type of firepower."
Coming into the Olympics, Team USA struggled in their warmup games, barely getting past Germany, South Sudan and Australia, but things clicked on Sunday, and James admitted that it "was the best game" the star-studded squad has played so far this summer.
The United States shot 62.3 percent from the field and 56.3 percent from deep—a positive sign after shooting struggled marred pre-Olympics play. The win against one of the best teams at the Olympics should serve as a confidence boost moving forward.
Team USA will get another shot at South Sudan—a team it scraped by 101-100 just a few weeks ago—on Wednesday. From there, the United States will face Puerto Rico on Saturday in its final Group Phase game.
