Cowboys' Jerry Jones: New Dak Prescott Contract 'Can Happen,' Won't Compare to Love
Jerry Jones sees a prolonged future for Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys.
When asked about the chances of Prescott signing a contract extension soon, Jones said that circumstances "change everyday" and that a new deal "can happen," per Nick Harris of DallasCowboys.com.
However, he rejected the chance to compare the situation to recently-extended Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love.

"I get in trouble when I make comparisons," Jones said. "I'm anxious for Dak to show that he's the best with that Cowboys star."
Prescott reflected on the contract situation as well with Jane Slater and Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network, stating his desire to continue with the franchise but also acknowledging the business side of the game and how he has to be open-minded with his future.
"The reality of it is that this is a business," Prescott said. "There's a lot of money in this game, a lot of people that have to be paid. There's two sides to this thing."
Prescott has been with Dallas since 2016 and has compiled a 73-41 record with 29,459 passing yards and 202 touchdowns. He is entering the final year of his contract and could hit unrestricted free agency following the 2024 season.
If Dallas hopes to retain him, it will likely have to shell out plenty of salary. Love's four-year, $220 million contract is the most recent and will pay him $55 million per season. Considering Prescott's experience and proven ability, he could easily ask for a contract that exceeds that value.
If the Cowboys don't intend to pay him, someone else surely will. With that in mind, Prescott will look to dominate on the field and increase his value while Jones and the Cowboys front office will look to craft a contract that works for all sides.
