Cowboys Trolled by NFL Fans over Tua's $212.4M Contract amid Dak Prescott Rumors

The Miami Dolphins have paid Tua Tagovailoa.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Tagovailoa is signing a four-year, $212.4 million extension after an offseason of waiting.

The deal comes as Dallas Cowboys franchise quarterback Dak Prescott remains without an extension. Prescott, an MVP candidate in 2023, has just one year remaining on his contract and will be a free agent after the season, meaning the pressure is on for the Cowboys.

After Tagovailoa inked his extension, NFL fans trolled Dallas for waiting so long to extend Prescott, as his value is likely going up with each quarterback's new deal.

Tagovailoa's massive extension continues a trend of teams rewarding their quarterbacks with historic contracts over the past few seasons. He is now the third-highest-paid quarterback in the league, only behind Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence, who make $55 million a year.

Things could now get difficult for the Cowboys, who are currently navigating a holdout from wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and also have linebacker Micah Parsons' contract extension on the horizon as he will be a free agent in 2026.

The good news for Dallas is that money may not be Prescott's biggest concern.

"I don't play for money. Never have never cared for it, to be honest with you, yeah," Prescott said in May, per ESPN's Todd Archer. "Would give it up just to play this game. So, I allow that to the business people to say what it's worth, what they're supposed to give a quarterback of my play, a person of my play, a leader of my play. For me, it's about, as I said, control what I can control and handle that part and the rest will take care of itself."

Still, Jerry Jones and the rest of the Cowboys' front office are likely trying to figure out how they'll be able to make things work after another huge quarterback contract extension.
