Buying or Selling 49ers' Top Offseason Rumors, Performances Entering Training Camp
The San Francisco 49ers' offseason has mostly been about Brandon Aiyuk.
The star wide receiver does not yet have a new contract and put a trade request in last week.
Aiyuk's status is not just important to the 49ers, but it could alter a few teams' plans across the NFL. One team could acquire Aiyuk and automatically shift the dynamic of its division.
As of now, Aiyuk is headed to 49ers training camp and a trade does not seem to be imminent.
Brandon Aiyuk Reporting to Training Camp
1 of 3
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported on Tuesday that Brandon Aiyuk plans to report to 49ers training camp.
Aiyuk's future has been one of the top NFL offseason storylines.
The 49ers' No. 2 wide receiver has been looking for a new contract, but the negotiations with the 49ers have not gone as planned.
A handful of teams could use Aiyuk immediately in 2024, but the 49ers, at least for now, seem content to bring back and work on a new contract either during the regular season, or after the 2024 campaign.
The 49ers could place the franchise tag on Aiyuk next offseason in the situation where the negotiations do not make any progress over the next nine months.
San Francisco can't keep every member of its core, especially if it wants to pay quarterback Brock Purdy, but it needs to hang on to one of Aiyuk or Deebo Samuel to avoid a total overhaul at wide receiver.
It sounds like Aiyuk is committed to the 49ers, and if that is the case, the two parties should be able to get along and not let any trade noise affect performance.
George Kittle at Full Strength Ahead of Training Camp

49ers tight end George Kittle sounds like he is at full strength going into training camp.
Kittle detailed his offseason in which he dropped to 30 pounds below his normal playing weight before gaining it back, per Pro Football Talk.
"I got it back up," Kittle said. "I usually play the whole season around 242 to 245 and I got it back up to 243 this past week so I was excited about that, weight's all back. It was kind of an odd offseason because I couldn't train the way I usually train, a lot of it was recovery. I was able to, through OTAs, June and July, kind of get back into the rhythm I want to get back into. I feel prepared to start training camp."
Kittle did not have to impress anybody during the early summer workouts, but he was not 100 percent as he went through OTAs.
The star tight end seems like he has healed from all of the injuries he dealt with last season. An average set of OTAs is the least of concerns for Kittle and the 49ers.
The team needs Kittle at 100 percent for the regular season. It looks like the 49ers will get the normal Kittle in their continued quest of a Super Bowl title.
Kittle's back-to-100 percent form could end up as one of the top storylines to emerge from training camp and we should buy that hype if it happens based on his comments.
Ricky Pearsall Carries High Expectations into Training Camp
3 of 3
Ricky Pearsall carries all sorts of expectations into training camp.
The 2024 first-round pick was the "team's most prominent receiver on the field for most of the spring.", per The Athletic's Matt Barrows.
Pearsall will open training camp on the PUP list with a hamstring injury, per ESPN's Adam Schefter, but he is not expected to miss a significant amount of time.
Pearsall's early flashes of skill to the 49ers coaching staff is a promising sign for whatever role he fills in 2024.
He could either be a member of the supporting cast behind Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel, or a potential replacement for one of those players.
The hype around the first-round pick is real, no matter which role he finds himself in, and 49ers fans should buy into the fact that San Francisco could have three standout wide receivers working with Purdy in 2024.
