Eagles Rumors: Cooper DeJean Out 3 Weeks with Hamstring Injury; Placed on NFI List
The Philadelphia Eagles will place rookie cornerback Cooper DeJean on the non-football injury list, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Fowler reported the second-round pick is expected to miss three weeks due to a hamstring injury he picked up "when he was caught in an awkward position during offseason training."
DeJean was one of the more disruptive players in college football over the last two years through his work on defense and special teams. Across 2022 and 2023, he 116 tackles, seven interceptions and three touchdowns. As a return man, he averaged 13.1 yards on punts and took one to the house in a victory over Michigan State last September.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Coming into the draft, the 21-year-old was the No. 27 overall player and fourth-best cornerback on Bleacher Report's final big board.
The Eagles have experimented with DeJean a bit during his offseason workouts, deploying him on the outside as a corner and at nickelback.
"It's been good," he said in June. "I'm just trying to take in and learn as much as possible right now, whether that's inside or outside. I don't have a problem with having a lot on my plate. I'm here to play football and learn football. The more positions I can learn, I feel like it helps me out on the field when I'm at one of those positions. Just knowing what those other positions are doing and where I can get my help."
A three-week recovery timeline would put DeJean on track to be healthy in time for Philadelphia's season opener against the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 6. It will, however, cost him valuable time in training camp along with some or all of the Eagles' preseason slate.
Losing that kind of ground could jeopardize DeJean's hopes of being a first-stringer in Week 1.
