Yankees Trade Rumors: Jasson Dominguez, Spencer Jones Not 'Entirely off the Table'
As the July 30 trade deadline draws nearer, the New York Yankees are reportedly open to dealing away some of their top prospects.
According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, Yankees outfielder prospects Jasson Dominguez and Spencer Jones "aren't entirely off the table" in trade discussions leading up to the deadline.
Passan added that the Yankees dealing away Jones or Dominguez is unlikely, but nothing can be ruled out after the team's 10-20 skid following its scorching 50-22 start to the 2024 season. New York has multiple holes to fill if it hopes to fulfill its aspirations of making it back to the World Series for the first time since the franchise's last title win in 2009.

Thomson Reacts to Cora Offer
"The chances of such a deal are slim, yes, but general manager Brian Cashman is sharp enough to recognize that limiting anything during a freefall is counterproductive," Passan stated. "For now, the Yankees are focusing on late-inning relief help (there's plenty), a versatile infielder (there's not) and a productive bat (not many), with the potential to grab a high-end starting pitcher."
Dominguez is recovering from an oblique strain, but he showed the potential to be a star when he hit four home runs in eight major-league games during the 2023 campaign. He played 23 games in the minors this year, 20 of which were part of a rehab assignment, and hit .356 with a 1.014 OPS, six home runs and three stolen bases.
Jones has yet to make his major-league debut but is ranked as New York's No. 2 prospect behind Dominguez. He's played 76 games this year in Double-A and hit 10 home runs with 47 RBI.
The Yankees opened the second half of the season by splitting a four-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays, so it's clear that the team needs some improvements if it hopes to contend for a title this year. However, dealing away top prospects like Jones and Dominguez would be drastic, so New York will have to determine its best course to retool for the stretch run of the season.
