Louis Rees-Zammit Studying Chiefs Playbook 'Nonstop' to Try and Make 2024 Roster
Former Wales rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit is focused on studying the Kansas City Chiefs' playbook as he attempts to earn a roster spot for the 2024 season.
"I'm nonstop trying to learn this playbook because as soon as I can start not having to think about playing and just playing fast, that's the biggest thing for me," Rees-Zammit said, per ESPN's Adam Teicher.
After spending the last six years playing for Gloucester Rugby of Premiership Rugby in England, the 23-year-old accepted an invitation to join the NFL's international player pathway program on Jan. 16.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
Rees-Zammit signed a three-year contract with the Chiefs on March 27. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that his deal with Kansas City included "some" guaranteed money as well as a signing bonus.
He'll look to make an impact on special teams in order to secure his place on the 53-man roster, although he could ultimately also be used as a weapon out of the backfield.
"I know special teams is going to be massive for me," he said, via Teicher. "I've been working really hard on that ... and just learning the playbook, learning the running back roles, being able to learn pass protection and then learning my routes off that."
Rees-Zammit will look to stand out in front of Kansas City's coaching staff in training camp and should receive some playing time in the preseason.
The Chiefs' first preseason game is against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Aug. 10 at 8 p.m. ET.
