Anthony Edwards: 'Still Got Butterflies' About Playing with Kevin Durant on Team USA
Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards continued to express excitement over the opportunity to play alongside Kevin Durant at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
According to Joe Vardon of The Athletic, Edwards has often referred to KD as his favorite player of all time, and he said the following about being Durant's teammate as part of Team USA: "I can't wait to play alongside him. ... I definitely still got butterflies there waiting for that to happen."
Edwards, 22, is coming off the best year of his young NBA career, as he was named an All-Star for a second consecutive season.
He was also an All-NBA Second Team selection and finished seventh in the NBA MVP voting after averaging 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 2.4 three-pointers made and 1.3 steals per game.
Edwards led the T-Wolves to the Western Conference Finals as well, sweeping Durant and the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs along the way.
While Edwards is just four years into his career, the 35-year-old Durant is a 17-year NBA veteran who has seen and done it all.
With 14 All-Star selections, four scoring titles, two NBA championships, two NBA Finals MVP awards and one NBA MVP Award to his credit, Durant is a surefire, first-ballot future Hall of Famer.
Durant also has three consecutive Olympic gold medals on his résumé, and as part of a United States squad that includes himself, Edwards, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Joel Embiid and a host of other superstars, he has a strong chance to win another in Paris.
