Colorado's Deion Sanders Says He's 'Judged on a Difference Scale' Than CFB Peers
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is no stranger to scrutiny, but he believes his success isn't as respected as it should be.
While speaking to reporters during Big 12 Media Days on Wednesday, Sanders said, "I'm judged on a different scale. My wins are totally different than your wins."
Colorado will be moving back to the Big 12 after being in the Pac-12 since 2011. The program had been in the Big 12 from 1996 to 2010.
Despite the change, Sanders doesn't believe the Buffaloes will need to adjust to their new surroundings.
When asked how Colorado fits into the Big 12, Sanders responded, "Why would be trying to fit into anything? I ain't never tried to fit into nothing... We don't fit in, man. We fit out."
Sanders is entering his second year at the helm of Colorado. The 2023 campaign wasn't kind to the Buffaloes, as they started the year 3-0 but finished with a 4-8 record. The team ended the season with six straight losses.
Still, Colorado enters the 2024 season with high expectations. Two-way star Travis Hunter is fully healthy after being limited to nine games last year. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders, Coach Prime's son, will be motivated to prove himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 draft class.
The Buffaloes have already sold out their season tickets for 2024, the second straight year the team sold out tickets before August. It's just the 10th time in program history that Colorado has sold out its season tickets.
Sanders will try to lead the Buffaloes to new heights in their return to the Big 12, and if he achieves his goal, he will get the respect he believes he deserves.
