Jayson Tatum Wears Kobe Bryant's No. 10 Team USA Jersey: 'Nothing Short of an Honor'

Timothy RappJul 8, 2024

Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum will be wearing the No. 10 for Team USA at the Paris Olympics this summer in honor of the late Kobe Bryant, who wore the same number for the national team.

"Nothing short of an honor to be able to represent this uniform and wear No. 10," Tatum told reporters on Monday. "Anyone who remotely knows me knows how much influence that he had on me as a kid, inspiring me to reach my goals. It's definitely not something I take for granted or lightly."

Tatum isn't the only star to honor Bryant of late with a number choice. New Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George will be wearing the No. 8 in honor of Kobe Bryant since his previous numbers, 13 (Walt Chamberlain) and 24 (Bobby Jones), are each retired by the franchise.

Bryant, of course, was born in Philadelphia and went to high school at Lower Merion, a suburb of Philadelphia. So for George, also a huge Bryant fan, switching numbers to Bryant only made sense.
