Kevin Durant: 'It's Inspiring to Be Around' USA's Dream Team for 2024 Summer Olympics
The U.S. Men's basketball team has a loaded roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics and some of its brightest stars are taking notice.
Following the first day of practice, forward Kevin Durant reflected on the talent on the team and said that he is enjoying the chance to learn from other greats of the current game.
"Moving around — that's what's stood out the most to me," Durant said, per Joe Vardon of The Athletic. "You see these dudes and you compete against them, and some of these dudes you probably don't like during the regular season. And then you get with them and you see who they are as people, see their approach to the game. It's inspiring to be around."
Durant has been the face of the recent iterations of Team USA. He was on the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Gold Medal squads. He is the U.S.'s all-time leader in points (435), scoring average (19.8), field goals (146), three-pointers (74) and free throws (69).
The 2024 squad is definitely more loaded than some of the previous winners and is definitely more talented than the 2023 FIBA World Cup team that finished in fourth. Still, the international game has improved as well, and teams like Canada, France, Germany and Serbia are all hoping to end the United States' reign of dominance.
The U.S. will begin its Olympic journey on July 28 when it faces Serbia at 11:15 a.m. ET.
