Angel Reese Ejected vs. Liberty; Bulls' Lonzo Ball Offers to Pay WNBA Rookie's Fine

Angel Reese's evening came to an early end during the Chicago Sky's 88-75 loss to the New York Liberty on Tuesday.

Reese was ejected after receiving two technical fouls in the final minutes following an exchange with one of the officials:

It remains to be seen whether she will be fined for the interaction, but she might not have to worry about paying it. After all, Chicago Bulls point guard Lonzo Ball, who was in attendance at the game, offered to pay her fine:

Maj Forsberg, the lead official working the game, told Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune that Reese received the first technical foul for "disrespectfully addressing" the official. She received the second technical foul for waving off the official.

The LSU product has already been fined once in her rookie season.

The WNBA fined her $1,000 after she did not talk to the media following Saturday's 71-70 loss to the Indiana Fever. The league also fined the Sky $5,000 for failing to ensure its players complied with the WNBA's media rules.

Chicago's loss to the Fever generated plenty of headlines, as Chennedy Carter committed a hard foul against Caitlin Clark that knocked the Indiana rookie to the ground. It was called an away-from-the-play foul in the moment, and Clark connected on what proved to be a critical free throw in a one-point win.

However, the WNBA eventually reviewed the play and issued Carter a flagrant-1 foul in the aftermath.

It put the Sky further under the spotlight, and they had an opportunity for a statement win during Tuesday's contest against one of the league's presumed championship contenders.

And it seemed like they might get the victory for extended stretches, as they battled back from a double-digit deficit to take the lead heading into the fourth quarter.

New York controlled that fourth quarter, though, and outscored the home team 23-9. Frustration surely built up for the Sky as that final quarter unfolded, and it reached a point that Reese was ejected.

Reese and Chicago will have an opportunity to bounce back Thursday against the Washington Mystics.
