Caitlin Clark: 'It's Not Fun' as Fever 0-5; Star Broke 27-Year WNBA Scoring Record
Caitlin Clark is acclimating well to the WNBA, but she is still chasing her first win after the Indiana Fever dropped to 0-5 following Wednesday's 85-83 loss to the Seattle Storm.
Clark finished the game with 21 points, seven assists and seven rebounds in 33 minutes.
Speaking to reporters after the loss (starts at 13:00 mark), Clark said "it's not fun" being winless through five games, but there are positives the team can take away from how they have been playing and "that first win will be right around the corner."
Despite the lack of team success, Clark did become the first player in WNBA history to score at least 20 points in each of her first three road games (starts at 2:15 mark).
After losing their first three games by an average of 22.7 points, the Fever lost their last two games to the Storm and Connecticut Sun by a total of six points.
Indiana had a chance to tie the score in the final 15 seconds of both games. Aliyah Boston missed a layup with 7.1 seconds remaining against the Storm on Sunday. Clark had the ball stolen from her by Jordan Horston with 2.1 seconds on Wednesday night.
These are all signs of a young team that's still trying to figure itself out. Boston is only in her second season. Clark was drafted five weeks ago after Iowa's season ended on April 7.
Clark is still trying to find her shooting touch against WNBA competition. She is only connecting on 40.6 percent of her attempts from the field, including 32.6 percent from three-point range.
Things will get better as Clark, Boston and NaLyssa Smith continue to develop their chemistry.
Next up for the Fever is a matchup with the Los Angeles Sparks (1-2) on Friday at Crypto.com Arena.
