Preakness 2024 Post Positions: Draw Start Time, Horses Lineup and More
Mystik Dan drew the No. 3 post for the Kentucky Derby, then went on to race to victory at Churchill Downs on May 5. It isn't yet known where the Ken McPeek-trained colt will start Saturday's Preakness Stakes, but he'll look to again end up in the winner's circle at a Triple Crown event.
The post draw for the 149th running of the Preakness is set to take place Monday at 5:30 p.m. ET. The event will be streamed live on social media and YouTube.
After that, preparations will kick into high gear for the Preakness, which will be held at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore on Saturday at 6:50 p.m. ET.

No trainer has won the Preakness Stakes more than Bob Baffert, an eight-time champion at the event. He was most recently victorious in the race last year, when National Treasure crossed the finish line first.
This year, Baffert will have a chance to go back to back. In fact, he has two chances, as he'll be entering both Muth and Imagination into the race.
Muth is the betting favorite to win the event. He would have been a strong contender at the Kentucky Derby, but Baffert is currently suspended from Churchill Downs due to Medina Spirit (the initial 2021 Derby winner) testing positive for betamethasone.
In six career races, Muth has never finished worse than second. He was victorious in his most recent event, the Arkansas Derby in March, when he finished ahead of both Just Steel and Mystik Dan.
Imagination has also finished either first or second in all six of his previous races. His resume isn't quite as impressive as Muth's, but he ended up second in the Santa Anita Derby last month.
While Baffert's colts will be strong contenders, Mystik Dan should also be among the front-runners at Saturday's Preakness. It wasn't a sure thing that McPeek was going to enter the Kentucky Derby winner in the race, but he eventually decided to do so.
McPeek will be going for his second Preakness victory after previously winning with Swiss Skydiver in 2020.
Tuscan Gold is another horse that could fare well at Pimlico. The Chad Brown-trained colt has only competed in three races, but he notched a third-place finish at the Louisiana Derby in March and could start faring even better.
Just Steel will aim for a better showing at the Preakness after finishing 17th in the Kentucky Derby. The D. Wayne Lukas-trained colt has competed in 12 races, finishing first or second six times.
