Jae'Lyn Withers Announces Return to UNC for 2024-25 Season for Final Year of CBB
North Carolina is getting another member of the 2023-24 ACC regular-season championship team back for one more year.
Forward Jae'Lyn Withers told CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein he will use the extra year of eligibility to return to the Tar Heels for the 2024-25 season.
Withers transferred to North Carolina last year after spending the first four years of his college career at Louisville. He redshirted during his first season with the Cardinals in 2019-20.

Upon making his college debut in 2020-21, Withers earned a starting spot in Louisville's lineup. He averaged 10.0 points and 7.7 rebounds in 20 games.
Louisville moved him in and out of the starting lineup during his sophomore season, resulting in a decline in his production to 5.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest in 29 appearances.
Withers finished third on the Cardinals in scoring average (8.9 points per game) on 41.7 percent three-point shooting during the 2021-22 campaign, but the team finished last in the ACC with a 4-28 record overall and a 2-18 mark in conference play.
Playing behind Cade Tyson in his first season with the Tar Heels, Withers averaged an efficient 4.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. He scored a season-high 16 points in their first-round tournament victory over Wagner.
Withers' return comes after RJ Davis, the 2023-24 ACC Player of the Year, announced on Wednesday he would be staying at North Carolina for his fifth season.
The Tar Heels went 29-8, won the ACC regular-season title for the first time since 2018-19 and earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. Their season came to an end with an 89-87 loss to Alabama in the Sweet 16.
