NFL GM: Notre Dame's Joe Alt Had Best Pro Day Ever for OL Prospect Ahead of Draft
Don't expect Notre Dame offensive tackle Joe Alt to be on the board long during the first round of Thursday's NFL draft.
"I've talked to a couple of evaluators over the last few days who've compared him to Joe Thomas," SI.com's Albert Breer said on The Rich Eisen Show Tuesday (1:00 mark). "I talked to one GM who said his pro day was 'the best pro day I've ever seen from an offensive lineman.'"

All Thomas did during his NFL career was get selected to 10 Pro Bowls, earn six first-team All-Pro selections and eventually make his way into the NFL Hall of Fame. Pretty solid player to be compared with for a young offensive tackle, in other words.
Breer added more details on Alt's potential draft stock during a Tuesday article:
"If I had to guess right now, I'd say he becomes either a Tennessee Titan [currently picking at No. 7 overall) or a Los Angeles Charger [currently picking at No. 5]. And his best might be yet to come for this son of an NFL lineman who is still learning his position (he was a tight end in high school), and who won't turn 22 until after the Super Bowl. One veteran evaluator I talked to had Alt behind only [wideout Marvin Harrison Jr.] among the best players in this draft class."
Leading up to this year's draft, there's been plenty of suggestions that quarterbacks could be the first three or four picks and a run on wideouts could follow. Don't be shocked if Alt slides his way into the top five, however.
