Deion Sanders: It's a 'Stupid Lie' Shedeur, Travis Hunter Are Limited to 6 NFL Teams
Deion Sanders wants it to be known that he is open to Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter playing for more than six teams at the next level.
During a discussion with Romi Bean of CBS Colorado on Wednesday, the Colorado head coach said the idea he will limit the players to just six NFL teams is a "bold face lie. That's a stupid lie. I have more than six owners that are friends. I have more than six GMs that are friends."
While they may not be limited to just six teams, it was Sanders himself who threw out the idea of dictating where the quarterback and cornerback will go during the 2025 NFL draft.
"I know where I want them to go," he said during an appearance on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast (h/t ESPN). "So, it's certain cities that ain't going to happen. It's going to be an Eli."
He also said he doesn't want his son, Shedeur, "going nowhere cold" and listed the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders and Baltimore Ravens as potential destinations.
The "Eli" comment was a reference to the 2004 NFL draft when Eli Manning said he wouldn't play for the San Diego Chargers. San Diego selected him with the No. 1 overall pick but ended up trading him to the New York Giants, where he won two Super Bowls.
For now, the younger Sanders and Hunter are surely focused on helping the Buffaloes bounce back from a disappointing 2024 season before turning their attention to the 2025 draft. After all, Colorado went 4-8 overall and 1-7 in Pac-12 play during Sanders' first season as head coach.
That was good enough for last place in the conference, although Colorado will be in the Big 12 during the upcoming season.
If Shedeur Sanders and Hunter lead their team to a better record in a new league, perhaps far more than six teams will be interested in them come draft day.
