Following the death of her husband "The High Chief" Peter Maivia, Lia Maivia took over Polynesian Pro Wrestling (PPW) in 1982. She produced a card that drew a crowd of 20,000 in August 1985 called A Hot Summer Night.
Maivia, who died in 2008 at the age of 77, will join several members of the Anoa'i Family who are in the WWE Hall of Fame, including her husband, The Rock's father Rocky Johnson, Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, "The Wild Samoans" Afa and Sika, and Rikishi.
Maivia rounds out a 2024 WWE Hall of Fame class that also includes Paul Heyman, Bull Nakano, Muhammad Ali, the US Express (Mike Rotunda and Barry Windham), and Thunderbolt Patterson.
The life of Maivia was prominently featured in the Young Rock series, which ran for three seasons on NBC. She was portrayed by Ana Tuisila.
