Steelers' NFL Super Bowl 59 Odds Unchanged After Russell Wilson Agrees to Contract
Usually, when a future Hall of Fame quarterback switches teams at age 35, it sends a shockwave throughout the NFL that sends bookmakers scrambling to adjust their odds.
That's not the case with Russell Wilson and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Steelers' Super Bowl odds remained completely unchanged at DraftKings SportsBook following Wilson announcing he was coming to Pittsburgh on Sunday:

The collective bookmaker shrug comes as a result of a miserable two-year stint for Wilson in Denver that ended when he was benched in favor of Jarrett Stidham late last season.
For the Steelers, Wilson still represents a seismic upgrade over what they've gotten at quarterback since Ben Roethlisberger's retirement. Wilson threw for 3,070 yards and 26 touchdowns against eight interceptions last season while adding 341 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
If Wilson could replicate those numbers alone, the Steelers will be getting one of the NFL's best bargains, as he'll be playing the 2024 season on a veteran's minimum contract. The Denver Broncos owe Wilson around $38 million in guaranteed salary for next season.
As far as the Steelers' Super Bowl chances, well, it's fair to see where the bookmakers are coming from. Pittsburgh out-performed its talent level last season on the way to a 10-7 record, and the Steelers project as the worst on-paper team in the AFC North.
Mike Tomlin's ability to coax winning football out of even his worst rosters is admirable, but a post-prime Wilson no longer moves the needle enough to make the Steelers anything more than a mid-tier team that will finish with 7-10 wins. The only thing that could make Pittsburgh a legitimate Super Bowl threat is Wilson turning back the clock and becoming the 2020 version of himself again.
