Warriors' Loss to Spurs Without Wembanyama Has Fans Eager for Steph Curry's Return
After Steph Curry sprained his ankle on Thursday in a loss to the Chicago Bulls, the Golden State Warriors struggled without their star in a 126-113 loss to the Victor Wembanyama-less San Antonio Spurs Saturday night.
With his Splash Brother out, Klay Thompson put together a solid game with 27 points and Jonathan Kuminga added 25, but their performances were from enough to get past the Spurs, who sit at the bottom of the West.
Jeremy Sochan led the way for San Antonio, putting up 20 points in the win. Keldon Johnson also added 20 of his own off the bench.
The loss had fans hoping for a speedy recovery for Curry, who proved how vital he is to the Warriors' success through his absence on Saturday.
With the loss, the Warriors dropped to 33-30 on the season and currently sit in 10th place in the Western Conference. Golden State began building steam in February, but has now lost three out of its last four games, including a blowout loss to the Boston Celtics last week.
While Curry isn't expected to miss significant time, the Warriors will need to step up in his absence to avoid dropping any further in the Western Conference standings.
