NBA Rumors: Shake Milton Plans to Sign Knicks Contract After Pistons Buyout
Shake Milton reportedly will sign with the New York Knicks after he clears waivers, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Milton and the Detroit Pistons agreed to a buyout on Friday, paving the way for the veteran guard to sign with the Knicks in free agency and provide some much-needed backcourt depth.
Milton, 27, started the season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, though he played a small role off the bench, averaging just 4.7 points and 1.3 assists in 12.9 minutes across 38 games. He was then traded to the Pistons in the deal that sent Monte Morris to Minnesota.

In four games for the Pistons, all off the bench, he averaged 6.8 points and 1.5 assists. For the season he's shooting 42.3 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three.
Milton isn't going to move the needle much, but he's playoff-tested from his years with the Philadelphia 76ers and is capable of getting a bucket off the bench. He can play both guard positions, providing the Knicks another option behind the guard rotation of Jalen Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo, Miles McBride and Alec Burks.
The Knicks, meanwhile, are beat up at the moment. The team is currently without OG Anunoby, Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson, while players like Jalen Brunson and Isaiah Hartenstein have also missed time.
The result has been a 3-8 record in their past 11 games that dropped them to fourth in the Eastern Conference standings.
"I'm not sure what you all expect, or what you all think. We are playing as best as we can with the bodies that we have," Josh Hart told reporters on Friday. "We're playing our asses off. It's not like we're just sitting there and crying about injuries and laying down. Nah, we're grinding. We're pushing ourselves. And once we get guys back, we're good."
Having another body in Milton should help.
