Chiefs Release Renderings, Details of Planned Arrowhead Stadium Renovations
The Kansas City Chiefs unveiled Wednesday renderings of the planned renovations to Arrowhead Stadium.
"For more than five decades, Arrowhead Stadium has been the home of the Chiefs, and a home for so many of our fans," Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt said. "This is where generations of Chiefs fans fell in love with the game. History has been written here, legends have been born here, and lifelong memories have been made within these walls. The stadium has become part of the fabric of our community. Today we are excited to share our plans to extend the life of Arrowhead for future generations of Chiefs fans."

Among the changes is an "Activation Zone" that will be built where the Kansas City Royals' Kauffman Stadium presently resides. The Royals are looking to move out of Kauffman Stadium and into a new venue in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.
Three new pedestrian bridges would also be constructed leading to Arrowhead Stadium to help alleviate some of the traffic congestion in the area.
The Chiefs intend to make more cosmetic changes to Arrowhead Stadium as well, such as new video boards, new suites in the end zone and updated concessions.
According to the Kansas City Star's Blair Kerkhoff, the team estimates the full cost of the renovations to be $800 million. The Chiefs would be on the hook for $300 million plus any overruns, while the rest would largely fall into the lap of taxpayers in Jackson County.
Residents will go to the polls on April 2 to vote on a ballot measure that extends a current sales tax for 40 years, with the revenue generated to be distributed to the Royals and Chiefs to help pay for their stadium projects.
