Russell Wilson: 'I Hope I Get to Finish' with Broncos Amid NFL Rumors

Andrew PetersFeb 25, 2024

As Russell Wilson's future with the Denver Broncos remains uncertain, the quarterback expressed his interest in remaining with the team moving forward.

Making an appearance on the I Am Athlete podcast with former NFL wide receiver Brandon Marshall, Wilson discussed both his motivation heading into next season and his desire to stay in Denver.

"I've got more fire than ever, honestly, especially over the past two years and what I've gone through," Wilson said. "Whether it's in Denver or somewhere else. I hope it's Denver. I hope I get to finish there. I committed there. I wanted to be there. I want to be there."

Wilson, who won his only Super Bowl in 2013, isn't shy about his desire to win. He discussed his goal for the next five seasons on the podcast.

"For me, it's about winning. In the next five years, I want to win two," Wilson said. "I want to feel the chill of that trophy again."

While he wants to win in Denver, he also recognizes that the Broncos might not have the same feelings toward him.

"I love the city and everything else, but you also want to be in a place that wants you too," Wilson said. "The thing that I want to do is win, that's all I care about."

Wilson joined the Broncos after a blockbuster trade that sent him to Denver from Seattle ahead of the 2022 season. He has an 11-19 record in his first 30 starts with the Broncos, missing the postseason in both of his first two seasons.

While he had one of the worst seasons of his career in 2022, he bounced back in 2023, posting 3,070 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Now, the veteran quarterback awaits the decision of the Broncos, who have the No. 12 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
