Bill Belichick Pursuing TV Jobs After Patriots Exit, Falcons HC Talks, Son Steve Says
Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is pursuing television jobs, according to his son Steve who served as an assistant coach on the team's staff from 2016 through 2023 (h/t Khari Thompson and Christopher Price of The Boston Globe).
The elder Belichick and the organization mutually agreed to part ways on Jan. 11. He was mentioned as a possible candidate for the Atlanta Falcons head coaching vacancy, meeting with team owner Arthur Blank
However, the Falcons ended up hiring former Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris instead.

Although reports of Belichick's desire to have control over football operations resulted in Atlanta choosing a different direction, Blank dispelled those rumors.
"Bill, during all of our discussions with him, it was never about power, control, needing people to work for him, etcetera," Blank said, via Bobby Kownack of NFL.com. "He was interested in coaching. He definitely wanted a collaborative relationship with personnel, scouting."
With Belichick eyeing a television job, it's currently unknown if he's interested in a broadcasting role or serving as an analyst. Tom Brady, the seven-time title-winning quarterback who spent the first 20 years of his career with the legendary head coach, is starting his new job as an NFL broadcaster for Fox during the 2024 season.
It doesn't seem as though Belichick is finished coaching, even if he's able to land a position in front of the camera. According to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, "several sources believe a stint in television" could be in store for the three-time Coach of the Year.
"A TV gig would keep Belichick in front of NFL fans every week and, more importantly, in front of NFL owners," Jones wrote on Jan. 28. "That's what Sean Payton did at Fox during his year off in 2022, and Belichick could easily do the same this year."
Payton decided to wait until there was a head coach opening that he preferred before joining the Denver Broncos in Jan. 2023.
One such organization for Belichick could be the Dallas Cowboys, as the team suffered another disappointing postseason loss at the hands of the Green Bay Packers. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport discussed the speculation regarding the murky future of head coach Mike McCarthy at the time, noting that Belichick and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones have "a close relationship."
Although McCarthy ultimately wasn't fired, another early playoff exit for Dallas could result in a vacancy that Belichick may be interested in. He appears to be focused on a television role for now, however.
