Kirk Herbstreit, Jesse Palmer, More Announced for EA Sports College Football 25 Game
While the wait continues for full details about EA Sports' College Football 25, Thursday did provide some glimpses into what fans can expect.
Current and former ESPN hosts and analysts, including Kirk Herbstreit and Jesse Palmer have confirmed they will be in the new video game.
Chris Fowler, who has been the lead play-by-play commentator for ESPN's college football coverage since 2014, also confirmed he will have a role in the game.
Speaking to reporters about the game, EA Sports representatives announced college athletes will be compensated with $600 plus a copy of the game if they give their name, image and likeness to be used.
In addition to the baseline compensation, there's also the potential for players to earn more through "lucrative NIL opportunities."
OneTeam Partners, which is handling the NIL rights for EA Sports, has estimated approximately 11,400 athletes could be included in the game.
College Football 25 will feature all 134 FBS programs, along with every bowl game and the 12-team College Football Playoff. The game won't be using actual head coaches, though Sean O'Brien, EA Sports vice president of business development, told ESPN's Michael Rothstein they are considering different ways to "offer coaches the opportunity to opt in beyond Year 1."
It's unclear what role on-air talents like Herbstreit and Palmer will play in the game. Herbstreit and Brad Nessler were the commentators for the last college football video game released in July 2013.
EA Sports will give a full reveal of the game in May. An official release date has not yet been announced, but there is speculation it could drop as soon as June 7.
