Justin Fields Trade Rumors: Insiders Think Bears Could Get 2nd, 4th Rounders for QB
After trading a 2024 second-round draft pick during the season to acquire Montez Sweat, the Chicago Bears are in a prime position to get one back in a potential Justin Fields trade.
Per ESPN's Courtney Cronin, several people around the NFL suggested the Bears could land picks in the second and fourth rounds of this year's draft if they want to move the 24-year-old quarterback.
The pick sent from Chicago to the Washington Commanders for Sweat turned into the No. 40 overall selection. This leaves the Bears with six picks in the first five rounds, including Nos. 1 and 9 overall.

Sweat, who signed a four-year, $98 million extension in November, turned out to be everything the Bears hoped he'd be when they made the move. He finished with 25 quarterback hits, 14 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks in 17 games between the Bears and Commanders.
It seems safe to assume that the Bears will use the top pick to select a quarterback. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Feb. 10 it would take a "historic haul" of picks and compensation for them to move out of that spot.
This means that Fields will almost certainly end up on another team. There's always the possibility the Bears try to keep him and a rookie quarterback on the roster, but that's a misuse of a player who is going to have plenty of value on the market.
Per Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the Bears received trade inquiries about Fields during the Senior Bowl. The Atlanta Falcons and Pittsburgh Steelers seem to be the two teams most-often mentioned as potential landing spots for the fourth-year quarterback.
Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported last week the Steelers "are not interested" in bringing in a veteran quarterback who wants to be a starter.
The Falcons' second-round pick is at No. 43 overall, with the Steelers' pick eight spots later at No. 51. Pittsburgh also has two fourth-round picks thanks to a preseason trade with the Los Angeles Rams for guard Kevin Dotson.
Any team that acquires Fields will also have to make a decision about the fifth-year option on his rookie contract. May 2 is the deadline for teams to exercise the option year on 2021 first-round draft picks.
Fields had the best season of his career in 2023. He threw for 2,562 yards, ran for 657 yards, accounted for 20 touchdowns and completed 61.4 percent of his attempts in 13 starts.
