Patriots Rumors: Lawrence Guy, Adrian Phillips Released Ahead of 2024 NFL Free Agency
The New England Patriots have released veteran defensive lineman Lawrence Guy and veteran safety Adrian Phillips, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Guy, who has been with the Patriots since 2017, had 38 tackles in 2023. Phillips, who joined New England in 2020, had 17 tackles last season.
Guy is entering the final year of a four-year, $11.5 million contract in 2024. While he won't be with the Patriots next season, the 33-year-old should have no problem finding his way onto a roster.

Phillips is entering the final year of a three-year, $12.75 million contract next year, and like Guy, will likely find a new home soon.
Guy, who helped lead New England to a Super Bowl in 2019, thanked the Patriots for the seven years he spent with them on social media following his release.
"Thank you New England," he wrote on X. "You welcomed my family and I for the past seven years and always made us feel at home, the community we build, the people we met and the communities we impacted thank you for always welcoming us with open arms. I'm excited to see where this journey takes me."
Guy has proven himself in the NFL through his 13-year career, and he'll be looking to land with a new squad soon to continue his success.
While Phillips has been a premier safety throughout his career, the 10-year veteran saw his production decrease dramatically in 2023. He had nearly 50 fewer tackles last season than in 2022, mainly due to his limited playing time. He played just 12 percent of New England's defensive snaps last season.
The move to release the veteran Guy and Phillips comes as the Patriots enter a new era without head coach Bill Belichick. New England is under the direction of new head coach Jerod Mayo and is looking for success after a tumultuous last two seasons.
