Browns Rumors: Deshaun Watson to Resume Throwing in March After Shoulder Injury
Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is reportedly set to begin a throwing regimen in March as he continues to recover from season-ending shoulder surgery.
Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported Watson could be ready to participate in voluntary minicamp in April. The three-time Pro Bowler underwent surgery to repair a fractured glenoid bone in November. He also had a strained rotator cuff, which was not repaired during surgery.
The Browns made the playoffs despite Watson's injury woes, with Joe Flacco coming in late in the season and seemingly reviving his career. Flacco threw 1,616 yards and 13 touchdowns against eight interceptions in five starts; his touchdown total nearly doubled Watson's (seven) in fewer games.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
It's unclear if Flacco will be back in Cleveland, as he'll be a free agent in March, and the Browns have 230 million reasons to make things work with Watson. Every dime of Watson's contract is guaranteed, giving Cleveland no out even if the franchise wanted to move on—and it has every reason for buyer's remorse.
Since returning from a 10-game suspension related to sexual assault allegations made against him by more than 20 women, Watson has been a shell of himself. He's thrown for 2,217 yards and 14 touchdowns against nine interceptions.
There have been essentially no positive takeaways from Watson's two seasons in Cleveland, with the team taking both a public relations hit for acquiring him and Watson playing like a below-average NFL starter.
Watson's contract runs through the 2026 season, so the Browns will have their fingers crossed surgery and a full offseason of working with teammates turns things around.
