Bryce Young: 'Definitely Confident' and 'Excited' for Panthers' 2024 with HC Canales

After a disappointing rookie season, Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young is ready for a fresh start under the team's new coaching regime.

Young told TMZ Sports that the hiring of new Panthers head coach Dave Canales makes him believe he will turn things around during his sophomore campaign.

"I'm definitely confident, and that comes from being able to play with the team that I have, being able to lean on my teammates, get a new coaching staff, I'm excited to work with them," Young said. "I feel like I've grown, I've learned. I'm excited to improve this offseason. Get better at some things, I'm excited for year two."

The 2023 No. 1 overall pick didn't live up to expectations in his first year in the NFL, but he dealt with a subpar offensive line and his head coach Frank Reich was fired 11 games into the season.

Young played 16 games and threw for 2,877 yards, 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 59.8 percent of his passes. He was sacked a whopping 62 times during his rookie season, the second-highest total in the NFL behind only Washington Commanders quarterback Sam Howell's 65.

The Panthers finished with the worst record in the league at 2-15, but their 2024 No. 1 pick is owned by the Chicago Bears after they traded it last year to move up to select Young. Despite the struggles of last season, Young believes the adversity will make his team better in the long run.

"It wasn't the year that we wanted to have last year, some tough times, but you grow from that. I feel like as a team, we grew a lot closer through that," he said. "We're all in that together, we're all dedicated to turn that around, to improve and be better, so I'm excited for that journey."
